At Millie Miles Event Hire Ltd, we respect your right to privacy and are committed to complying with data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Under the GDPR, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data. This is known as the “Right to Be Forgotten.”

What Is the Right to Be Forgotten?

The Right to Be Forgotten allows you to request the deletion of your personal data that we hold about you. This right is not absolute and applies under certain conditions, such as:

  • The data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.
  • You withdraw your consent (where consent was the legal basis for processing).
  • You object to the processing and there are no overriding legitimate grounds for continuing to process the data.
  • The data was processed unlawfully.
  • The data must be erased to comply with a legal obligation.

    • Any specific information or records you want to be deleted (if applicable).
  3. Verification of Identity: To protect your data and ensure the legitimacy of the request, we may ask for proof of identity. This could include:

    • A copy of a government-issued ID (e.g., passport, driver’s license).
    • Any other information necessary to confirm your identity.

What Happens Next?

  1. Acknowledgement: We will acknowledge receipt of your request within five (5) business days and may ask for additional information if needed to process your request.

  2. Processing the Request: We will review your request and assess whether it meets the criteria for erasure under GDPR. We aim to respond within one (1) month. In some cases, this period may be extended by two (2) further months if the request is complex or if we have received numerous requests. We will inform you of any extension and the reasons for it.

  3. Erasure Confirmation: If your request is approved, we will delete your personal data from our records and notify you once the process is complete.

  4. Denial of Request: If we are unable to fulfill your request, we will provide you with a detailed explanation, including the reason(s) for the denial and any applicable legal or regulatory requirements that prevent us from deleting your data.

Exceptions to the Right to Be Forgotten

There are certain situations where we may not be able to delete your data, including but not limited to:

  • Compliance with a Legal Obligation: Where retention of the data is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation.
  • Exercise or Defense of Legal Claims: Where the data is necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
  • Public Interest: For reasons of public interest in the area of public health, scientific or historical research, or statistical purposes.
